The name of what is arguably the greatest forests of Germany--the Black Forest--often conjures up images of a dark, sinister place. Don't let the name fool you. The Black Forest in Germany is one of the best places you can go to explore some of the natural beauty the country has to offer.
Sitting in the south west corner of the state of Baden-Württemberg, the Black Forest borders France, Switzerland, and the Neckar River. The highest peak is the Feldberg with an elevation of 1,493 meters (4,898 feet). Black Forest ham originated from this region.
On a cold wintry night, the foursome- shammah, shilloh, katie & jane set off to their dream land. Rooms were booked in the palatial SHIKARA months in advance. Among the captured shots, an aerial view of FRANKFURT is displayed. The sprawling daffodils on the lush golden meadows was indeed picturesque.
After a hectic day on the shore, the sun was slowly ebbing away. Mother nature has showered all kindness on the entire area. The smell of pine surely opens the senses. The rolling trees engulf this beautiful place as the sound of rushing water draws nearer. And as I peer over the railing, I'm always astounded at the speed of the water fall...breaking its pace as it rushes into a tunnel and back out. The calls echoing through the trees, convince me that the chipmunks are quite aware of our silent presence.
Night was setting in, back to our holiday mansion, a legendary welcoming home where a thousand years unwind.
Shikara mansion has 10 sleeping rooms, a large country kitchen, and a cozy living room area where you can curl up by the woodstove and lose yourself in a good book. And after a day spent skiing in the fresh mountain air, you'll appreciate an added comfort from home -- hot showers! Mealtime is always an event - you'll delight in hearty, home-cooked meals and fresh-from-the-oven baked goods - no one ever leaves hungry.
